Governance

Govern every AI query into your company knowledge.

BusinessOS governance relies on policy-filtered retrieval and traceability. These controls are evaluated with each organization during a Sovereign pilot, on infrastructure it controls.

Key Answers

How BusinessOS governs AI access

How does BusinessOS govern AI access?

Every query passes through identity verification, role-based scope checks, and sensitivity-label evaluation before retrieval. BusinessOS returns only policy-approved records, attaches citations to source systems, and logs audit events. In a Sovereign pilot, these controls are evaluated with you on infrastructure you control.

What is policy-gated retrieval?

Policy-gated retrieval means the knowledge graph does not return a bulk export. Each query is evaluated against rules you define—who is asking, what data class is involved, which sources are in scope—and only matching, authorized records are included in the response.

What gets logged?

BusinessOS audit events typically include the requesting user or tool identity, timestamp, query intent, policy decision, sources accessed, and sensitivity classifications applied. Logs support governance reviews and compliance program evidence—exact fields depend on your deployment configuration.

Can regulated companies use BusinessOS?

Controls such as policy-filtered retrieval and audit trails can support a governance program. BusinessOS holds no certification; compliance depends on your architecture, policies and operational controls. A Sovereign pilot is evaluated case by case.

Governance Model

What shapes every query

Six layers work together so approved AI tools get context—not unchecked access.

User & tool identity

Every request is tied to an authenticated user or approved tool identity so access is attributable.

Role & scope

Role definitions limit which accounts, projects, and record types a user can query.

Sensitivity labels

Data classification rules determine which fields and records are eligible for retrieval.

Policy evaluation

Rules engine evaluates each query before any record leaves the knowledge graph.

Filtered answers & citations

Responses include only authorized excerpts with links back to source systems.

Audit events

Query decisions and source access are logged for governance and compliance review.

Audit Trail Example

Request lifecycle in practice

Example query from an approved tool

“Summarize open delivery risks for the Horizon Health engagement.”

Governance events recorded:

  1. 1
Identity verified: analyst@company.com via approved MCP-compatible tool.
  2. 2
Scope check passed: user has Horizon Health project access.
  3. 3
Sensitivity filter applied: internal delivery notes included; restricted legal docs excluded.
  4. 4
Policy decision: retrieve 4 authorized records from CRM and meeting notes.
  5. 5
Response delivered with citations to source records.
  6. 6
Audit event logged: query ID, user, policy outcome, sources accessed, timestamp.

Example audit fields vary by deployment. Your governance team defines retention and review workflows.
